KITESURFING TRIPS FAQ
1. CAN ANYONE JOIN THE KITE TRIP?

Our kite trips are designed especially for our kitesurfing students. The trip is for three instructors and three students (or group of students). This way, you can have the most personalized time.

In case you are an experienced kiteboarder and we have space available in the car, you are welcome to join us on the kitesurfing trip.

In case your girlfriend, wife or a friend wants to join us and we have space available in the car, they are welcome to join us.

2. ARE THE KITE TRIPS EVERY WEEK?

Kitesurfing trips depend on the wind forecast.

If the wind is good in Tulum, your lessons will take place in our beach spot at Ahau Tulum.

If the wind is North, wind direction is not good for teaching in Tulum. We organize kitesurfing trips to Isla Blanca or El Cuyo, so you can start or continue your kiteboarding lessons there.

3. WHERE EXACTLY ARE WE GOING TO KITE?

Isla Blanca, an awesome kiteboarding spot North of Cancun (Quintana Roo State). Around 2 hours and 20 minutes by car from Tulum. A spot where the North Wind is spectacular. We’ll take you to Ikarus Kiteboarding center, the perfect kite camp with all the facilities you may need, restaurant, kite shop, toilets and showers.

El Cuyo is a colorful and little fisherman village in the Mexican state of Yucatan. Around 2 hours and 40 minutes from Tulum, driving through a new highway. North wind is awesome in El Cuyo with winds from 17 to 25 knots. You can find restaurants and shops to buy food and beverages. We will stop on one kite house where you have access to toilets.

4. IS THERE AN EXTRA COST FOR THE TRIP?

The kite trip costs $50 USD, apart from the lessons you take in Isla or El Cuyo.
The extra cost is to cover transportation, entrances to the kite camp, beverages and “tortas” for breakfast.

5. CAN I GO WITH MY OWN CAR?

Yes, you can go with your own car. In such case, you don’t pay the extra cost, but you are responsible for paying entrances, food and beverages.

It is not easy to get to the kiteboarding spots, so it is better if you can depart from Ahau at the same time and follow us.

6. WHAT TIME IS THE DEPARTURE FROM TULUM?

We depart early in the morning at 7:00 am from Ahau Tulum.

7. WHAT TIME WE RETURN TO TULUM?

We return late in the evening around 9:00 pm to Ahau Tulum.

8. CAN I BUY FOOD IN ISLA BLANCA OR EL CUYO?

We offer “tortas” for breakfast on the trips, but you can buy more food in Isla Blanca or El Cuyo.

9. HOW CAN I PAY THE TRIP AND THE LESSONS?

You can pay the trip and the lessons with Credit Card at Ahau Tulum reception, Cash (USD and Mexican Pesos) and PayPal. The payments will be done at the end of the kitesurfing trip.
